Edgar Aleksander Norwerth znany jest przede wszystkim jako projektant budynku Centralnego Instytutu Wychowania Fizycznego na Bielanach. Jednak dorobek architekta wychodzi daleko poza jego najbardziej znane dzie\u0142o. Norwerth cz\u0119sto projektowa\u0142 dla wojska i instytucji z armi\u0105 zwi\u0105zanych. W 1929 r. rozrysowa\u0142 projekt domu Sp\u00f3\u0142dzielni \u201eProporzec\u201d przy al. Szucha 16. Za\u0142o\u017cona w 1926 r. Sp\u00f3\u0142dzielnia skupia\u0142a w swoich szeregach wysoko postawionych oficer\u00f3w Wojska Polskiego. Dom <\/a>zosta\u0142 zaprojektowany na rzucie litery \u201eL\u201d. Budowa trwa\u0142a trzy lata. Gmach uzyska\u0142 zr\u00f3\u017cnicowan\u0105 bry\u0142\u0119; cz\u0119\u015b\u0107 od strony alei Szucha ma sze\u015b\u0107 kondygnacji, od strony po\u0142udniowej obiekt podniesiono o dodatkowe pi\u0119tro. Elewacje urozmaicono wykuszami i balkonami. Na cz\u0119\u015bci dachu rozplanowano taras rekreacyjny. Dom pomie\u015bci\u0142 50 obszernych mieszka\u0144, dodatkowo w przyziemiu umieszczono dwa lokale u\u017cytkowe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obiekt spe\u0142nia\u0142 oczekiwania wymagaj\u0105cych mieszka\u0144c\u00f3w. Nowoczesny budynek wyposa\u017cono w windy osobowe oraz windy do transportu w\u0119gla z piwnicy. Regulamin domu zabrania\u0142 prania w mieszkaniach czy r\u0105bania drewna. Lokatorzy musieli liczy\u0107 si\u0119 te\u017c z brakiem mo\u017cliwo\u015bci trzymania zwierz\u0105t innych ni\u017c koty, psy i ptaszki. W czasie wojny dotychczasowych lokator\u00f3w wykwaterowano, a luksusowe przestrzenie zaj\u0119li Niemcy, b\u0119d\u0105cy w du\u017cej mierze pracownikami znajduj\u0105cego si\u0119 naprzeciwko Urz\u0119du Komendanta Policji Bezpiecze\u0144stwa i S\u0142u\u017cby Bezpiecze\u0144stwa Dystryktu Warszawskiego. To sprawi\u0142o, \u017ce budynek przetrwa\u0142 wojn\u0119. Po wojnie w zaj\u0119tym przez MON gmachu zamieszkali przedstawiciele resortu obrony oraz pracownicy Prezydium Rady Ministr\u00f3w. Przed wojn\u0105 w domu przy Szucha mieszkali m.in. Walery S\u0142awek, Bogus\u0142aw Miedzi\u0144ski czy Teodora \u017bukowska. Po wojnie na li\u015bcie lokator\u00f3w mo\u017cna by\u0142o znale\u017a\u0107 Oskara Langego, gen. Zygmunta Berlinga, a po 1956 r.
