W 1919 r., czyli nied\u0142ugo po odzyskaniu niepodleg\u0142o\u015bci, wydano dekret o ubezpieczeniach na wypadek choroby. W warunkach niepodleg\u0142ej Polski by\u0142a to rzecz nowa, chocia\u017c warto wspomnie\u0107, \u017ce takie ubezpieczenia w zaborze pruskim istnia\u0142y ju\u017c wcze\u015bniej. W latach 20. XX w. w ca\u0142ej Polsce dzia\u0142a\u0142y ju\u017c Kasy Chorych. Nale\u017celi do nich przedstawiciele wolnych zawod\u00f3w, urz\u0119dnicy, nauczyciele oraz robotnicy i rzemie\u015blnicy, a tak\u017ce s\u0142u\u017cba domowa. Wynosz\u0105ca 6,5% sk\u0142adka zdrowotna dawa\u0142a <\/a>prawo do hospitalizacji czy zasi\u0142ku chorobowego. Kobiety w ci\u0105\u017cy, od 14 dnia przed planowanym porodem, otrzymywa\u0142y przez osiem tygodni pe\u0142n\u0105 pensj\u0119.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kasy Chorych mog\u0142y prowadzi\u0107 w\u0142asne zak\u0142ady opieki zdrowotnej. Ubezpieczonym przys\u0142ugiwa\u0142a ksi\u0105\u017ceczka zdrowia, stanowi\u0105ca rodzaj legitymacji. Tworzone w Warszawie od podstaw Kasy Chorych s\u0105, mimo wielu wad, uznawane za najwi\u0119ksze osi\u0105gni\u0119cie systemu ochrony zdrowia w II Rzeczypospolitej. Nie s\u0142u\u017cy\u0142y tylko i wy\u0142\u0105cznie udzielaniu porad lekarskich. Przejmowa\u0142y te\u017c na siebie obowi\u0105zek prowadzenia akcji informacyjnych i wychowawczych.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oddzia\u0142y Kas Chorych mie\u015bci\u0142y si\u0119 w r\u00f3\u017cnych lokalizacjach w Warszawie. W latach 1924-1925 przy ulicy Maria\u0144skiej wzniesiono gmach Kasy Chorych m.st. Warszawy zaprojektowany przez Henryka Juliana Gaya. Jest to czteropi\u0119trowy obiekt, kt\u00f3rego parter pokryto boniowaniem, a fasad\u0119 od ulicy Maria\u0144skiej o\u017cywiono pilastrami. Na elewacji umieszczono napis wskazuj\u0105cy architekta: \u201ePROJ \/ HENRYK GAY \/ IN\u017b ARCH” oraz informacj\u0119 o wykonawcy prac: \u201eWYKON \/ Bcia HORN I \/ RUPIEWICZ \/ SP AKC”. W kartuszu podano nazw\u0119 zleceniodawcy budowy: \u201eKASA CHORYCH \/ M. WARSZAWY”, a w tympanonie, pod oculusem, wskazano funkcj\u0119 obiektu: \u201eUBEZPIECZALNIA SPO\u0141ECZNA \/ W WARSZAWIE”. Napis umieszczono te\u017c nad wej\u015bciem do apteki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gmach przetrwa\u0142 zawieruch\u0119 II wojny \u015bwiatowej i powojenne wyburzenia. Zachowa\u0142o si\u0119 w nim wiele element\u00f3w pierwotnego wystroju, zar\u00f3wno na zewn\u0105trz, jak i wewn\u0105trz. Budynek Kasy Chorych jest reliktem dawnej zabudowy \u015ar\u00f3dmie\u015bcia P\u00f3\u0142nocnego, a zarazem osta\u0144cem warszawskiego getta, w kt\u00f3rego granicach znajdowa\u0142 si\u0119 w latach 1940-1942.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
